Borgo Val di Taro

Borgo Val di Taro, Medieval commune in Province of Parma, Italy.

Borgo Val di Taro is a small commune nestled in the Apennines, with traditional stone buildings and tiled roofs arranged around narrow streets. The surrounding landscape consists of rolling green hills and dense forests that characterize the mountain region.

The town was established in medieval times as a mountain settlement and developed around agriculture and forestry. During the 20th century, the community was recognized for its wartime resistance and received military honors.

The town hosts regular markets where locals buy and sell mushrooms and regional products grown in the surrounding hills. These gatherings reflect how closely the community remains connected to the land and its seasonal harvests.

The town is easily walked on foot, with all main areas close together. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as the streets are steep and paved with stones.

Inside the Church of Sant'Antonino sits a working organ from the 13th century that is still played during services today. This makes the building one of the few places where you can hear a medieval instrument in its original location.
