The stone castle stands on high ground with circular towers and defensive walls overlooking the Taro Valley near Parma.

The Municipality of Parma constructed this military stronghold, which King Enzo of Sardinia, son of Frederick II, owned in 1247.

The castle structure reflects the architectural evolution through different periods, with elements from various noble families who controlled it.
