The church, established in the 10th century, underwent reconstruction between 1546 and 1610 following architectural plans created by Jacopo Sansovino.
The ceiling displays a fresco of Saint Martin in Glory by Jacopo Guarana, while the walls present images of saints and evangelists by Matteo Zais.
Located in the Castello district of Venice, San Martino serves as a military chapel and maintains regular opening hours for visitors.
The church houses a 15th-century altar crafted by Tullio Lombardo, which was transferred from the original church of Santo Sepolcro.
