Centro per l'arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci

The Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci is a contemporary art museum in Prato housing about 3,000 square meters of gallery space and more than 1,000 works by modern artists. The building also features an outdoor amphitheater, library, cinema-auditorium, and archive rooms.

The museum was founded in 1988 by a local industrialist in memory of his son Luigi, supported by the city council and local businesses. A major redesign by architect Maurice Nio in 2016 created a new U-shaped structure that integrated the exhibition spaces.

The center honors Luigi Pecci, son of a local industrialist, reflecting the city's deep connection to the contemporary art world. Visitors experience a space where modern creativity meets the region's industrial heritage.

The site is located in Mezzana and easily accessible, with clear pathways throughout and around the grounds. The on-site restaurant and bookshop allow visitors to spend extended time exploring without needing to leave the premises.

The museum's archive holds some 60,000 objects including documents and materials on contemporary art history. This extensive collection makes it an important research center for art historians and scholars.
