Mausoleum of Hadrian, Mausoleum in Italy
The Mausoleum of Hadrian, also known as Castel Sant'Angelo, is a towering cylindrical building located in Parco Adriano, Rome.
Emperor Hadrian commissioned the mausoleum for himself and his family between AD 134 and 139.
Over time, it has been used as a fortress and castle, and is now a museum.
The structure provides panoramic views of the Tiber River and Rome from its upper tiers.
Legend says that an angel appeared atop the mausoleum, heralding the end of the plague in Rome.
