Monza Park, Park in Monza, Italy
Monza Park is a large estate north of Milan that lies between several municipalities and includes forests, maintained lawns and river sections. The Lambro flows through the southern part and divides the landscape into different zones.
Eugène de Beauharnais, Napoleon's stepson, commissioned the construction during the French occupation of northern Italy and completed the estate in 1808. The grounds were intended to serve the royal court as a hunting area and place of rest.
The name of this estate comes from a time when princely residences were built with wide hunting grounds to offer recreation and leisure for the aristocracy. Today families and joggers come here to relax on the paths or simply sit in the green.
Five different trails lead through the estate and show different aspects of nature and buildings. The paths are mostly flat and easy to walk, making it easy to find your way around.
Within the boundaries lie the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, a Formula One circuit, and the Golf Club Milano, which hosted the Italian Open several times. Both facilities use part of the grounds and bring international visitors to the area.
