Park of Roccolo

The Park of Roccolo is a nature reserve stretching across six municipalities in the Po Valley, combining farmland with wooded sections. The terrain consists mainly of agricultural areas interrupted by forest patches and smaller natural zones that support different plants and animals.

The reserve was established in 1994 and takes its name from an old hunting technique that used hidden towers to catch birds. This historical practice was widespread in the region for a long time and influenced how the land was used.

Visitors come here to watch wildlife and explore the open countryside, experiencing how farming and nature coexist in this region. The landscape reflects the area's rural identity, where agricultural work and natural spaces have developed together over time.

The park has several entry points from the surrounding municipalities, allowing visitors to choose different access routes depending on where they start. Maps and guidance materials are available at the information center in Canegrate to help explore the area.

The area shelters plant species that are rare and protected in this Lombardy region, including Wood Anemone and wild irises found nowhere else nearby. Visitors walking through the terrain can spot these special plants during their visit.
