Santuario di Fonte Colombo

Set on a hilltop at 600 meters elevation, this religious complex contains multiple chapels, stone corridors, and a sacred cave within oak forests.

Saint Francis wrote the definitive Rule of the Franciscan Order in 1223 and underwent an eye operation in this sanctuary during 1225.

The sanctuary includes the Church, the Chapel of Mary Magdalene, the Chapel of Saint Michael, and decorated caves with religious frescoes and symbols.

Guided tours of the sanctuary operate daily between 9:00 and 12:00, then 15:00 to 18:00, with extended summer hours until 19:00.

A Tau symbol, potentially painted by Saint Francis himself, remains preserved on an internal wall of the sanctuary complex.
