Santa Maria delle Vertighe, Catholic shrine in Monte San Savino, Italy.
The Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Vertighe contains a basilica floor plan with three naves divided by columns featuring Ionic capitals and round arches.
The original church was connected to a Camaldolese priory in 1073, and around 1100 a medieval chapel was transferred from Asciano to the hill of Vertighe.
The sanctuary holds a late 13th-century Marian panel painting created by Margarito and Ristoro d'Arezzo, which attracts numerous religious visitors.
Located at Via delle Vertighe 563 in Monte San Savino, the sanctuary opens daily upon request and offers free admission to all visitors.
In 1964, Pope Paul VI designated Madonna delle Vertighe as the patron saint of the Autostrada del Sole highway system.
