Palazzo Comunale

Palazzo Comunale, Town hall in Pordenone, Italy

Palazzo Comunale is the town hall of Pordenone, a building with a trapezoidal form featuring large pointed arches along its ground level. An astronomical clock marks the upper section of its facade.

This structure was built at the end of the 13th century next to the Cathedral of San Marco along the Noncello River and was originally known as Lozza. It later became the seat of the town's government.

The building served as an early home for art in the city. A painting by Alessandro Varotari from 1626 depicting San Marco and Justice still hangs in the council hall.

The building is located roughly 600 meters from Pordenone railway station and is easily accessible on foot. Several bus lines stop nearby on Via Riviera del Pordenone.

The facade was designed by painter Pomponio Amalteo in 1542 and includes gothic pinnacles along its exterior. A proclamation balcony and civic bell remain distinctive features of the structure.
