Tombola archaeological site

Tombola archaeological site is an excavation near Cerea that contains remains of ancient wooden structures built on marshy ground using vertical piles driven into the soil. The finds date to different periods of prehistory and show how people adapted to living in river areas.

The settlement developed during the Stone Age and was occupied over thousands of years, creating layers with objects from different phases. These remains belong to a broader pattern of settlements that grew along rivers during this era.

The artifacts found here reveal how early settlers lived and worked in this region. They show traces of daily activities, from hunting to making tools from stone and bone.
