Museo dei Fossili di Bolca

The museum exhibits extensive collections of marine fossils, including fish and sharks preserved in volcanic sediment layers from 50 million years ago.

In 1843, the Gazola family appointed Giuseppe Cerato to manage excavations, establishing a tradition of fossil extraction expertise spanning five generations.

The museum contributes to paleontology education through interactive learning experiences and guided tours in the Alpone Valley's ancient seabed region.

The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours from April to September operating from 9:00 AM until 6:30 PM.

Visitors can explore the Pesciara Quarry with expert guides from March to November, examining active fossil extraction sites in the mines.
