Castello della Motta, Medieval castle in Povoletto, Italy.

The stone fortress stands at the meeting point of Torre and Cornappo streams, featuring defensive walls and a polygonal tower atop a ridge.

The castle's first documentation dates to 922 when Emperor Berengar I granted permission to Pietro, an Aquileian Church priest, to strengthen its fortifications.

The castle ruins represent the architectural evolution of defensive structures in northern Italy, with elements from different construction periods between the 8th and 15th centuries.

The archaeological findings from the castle excavations are displayed at the municipal museum of Villa Pitotti in Povoletto for public viewing.

Metal smelting activities occurred within the castle during the early 1400s, evidenced by the discovery of a furnace and metallic slag during excavations.
