Takahagi, Coastal city in Ibaraki, Japan

The establishment of Takahagi as a city occurred on November 23, 1954, through the merger of Matsubara, Takaoka, and Kurosaki municipalities.

The JR Joban Line provides regular train service to Takahagi, with connections available from major transportation hubs in the Ibaraki region.

The former mining town transformed its economy from coal extraction to manufacturing and food processing after the local mines closed in the 1960s.
