Takadanobaba, College district in Shinjuku, Japan.

Takadanobaba station connects three major railway lines, making it the ninth most crowded transportation hub in the world with constant passenger movement.

The area received its name in 1636 when Shogun Tokugawa Iemitsu established a horseback riding ground owned by the Takata family.

The neighborhood features numerous Southeast Asian restaurants, including establishments serving Burmese food, Vietnamese sandwiches, and curry specialties.

The district contains multiple educational institutions, budget restaurants, karaoke venues, and entertainment facilities inside the BIGBOX shopping center.

The neighborhood inspired filmmaker J.J. Abrams to name the planet Takodana in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
