Chiba Port Tower, Observation tower in Chiba Port Park, Japan
Chiba Port Tower is a steel structure standing 125 meters high with a glass-enclosed observation level inside Chiba Port Park in Chiba Prefecture. The construction consists of a concrete shaft supporting a three-tier steel framework arranged in a geometric pattern and illuminated at night.
The tower opened in June 1986 to celebrate Chiba Prefecture reaching five million residents during a period of expansion. The structure complemented the existing harbor facilities and created a landmark for the growing city region.
The tower serves as a popular location for marriage proposals and declarations through its recognition as a sanctuary for couples. The observation level hosts rotating displays about the prefecture's maritime life and harbor community traditions.
Visitors reach the site by traveling to Chiba Minato Station and walking to the park entrance. Access to the observation level requires a ticket, with pricing based on age and visitor status.
The observation level features specially designed heart-shaped seating that draws couples seeking romantic settings. The same space also houses traditional fortune-telling machines offering predictions to visitors.
