Shibamata Station, Railway station in Katsushika, Tokyo
Shibamata Station is a railway station in Tokyo served by the Keisei Kanamachi Line, featuring two side platforms with two tracks. The facility connects Katsushika to central Tokyo and provides access to both of the region's major airports.
The railway station began operations in 1899 and is part of the region's historical railway infrastructure. It received its official station number in 2010 when the Keisei Line introduced a systematic numbering system.
The station is closely linked to the film series Otoko wa Tsurai yo, a beloved Japanese production whose sets and props are displayed in a nearby museum. Visitors notice this connection immediately at the entrance, where a bronze statue of actor Kiyoshi Atsumi commemorates this tie to the film.
The station is well connected by rail and allows visitors to continue easily in various directions. The facility has clear signage and information boards to help navigate the space.
Near the station stands the Buddhist temple Shibamata Taishakuten, over 400 years old and home to the Niten-mon Gate. A black pine tree on the temple grounds is officially designated as a natural monument.
