Usakumai Sites

The Usakumai Sites are several excavation locations near the Naibetsu River where remains of ancient settlements have been uncovered. Different areas have information signs explaining what was found and why these discoveries matter.

These sites show how hunter-gatherers lived in this region over a long time and adapted to different environments. The area became officially recognized as a Historic Site of Japan in 1979.
