The Sunpiazza Aquarium opened in 1982 as part of the commercial development project in the Atsubetsuchūō district of Sapporo.

Located five minutes from Shin Sapporo subway station, the aquarium operates daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with last entry at 4:30 PM.
The facility maintains a dedicated penguin area where visitors can observe multiple penguin species throughout different seasons of the year.
