Mazak Art Plaza, Modern office skyscraper in Aoi district, Nagoya, Japan
Mazak Art Plaza is an office building in Nagoya that combines modern workspace with art exhibition areas across its floors. The structure integrates commercial office space with dedicated gallery sections designed to showcase visual art.
The building opened in February 2010 as part of an urban development initiative in eastern Nagoya. Its construction marked the introduction of contemporary architectural forms to the city's skyline.
The fifth floor displays an extensive collection of French paintings spanning three centuries, with works from Rococo, Romanticism, Neoclassicism, Realism, and Impressionism. Visitors can see how artistic styles evolved and changed over time through these displayed works.
The building is easily reached through Shinsakae-machi Station on the Nagoya Subway Higashiyama Line, located about seven minutes from Nagoya Station. From the station, the structure is accessible and straightforward to find on foot.
The building uses a geothermal energy system for temperature control in its underground museum section, demonstrating environmental awareness in its design. This system allows the art collection to be maintained at stable conditions while reducing energy consumption.
