Dōgashima

Dōgashima is a natural coastal site in Nishiizu featuring tall cliffs made of volcanic rock and several uninhabited islands scattered offshore. A natural land bridge connects Sanshiro Island to the mainland during low tide, creating a temporary walking route between them.

The landscape formed from an ancient underwater volcanic eruption that deposited volcanic ash and pumice, creating the white cliffs seen today. These geological processes shaped the distinctive coastal structure over time.

The Tensodo cave is accessible only by boat and features a natural opening in its ceiling that lets light pour in dramatically. This natural light display illuminates the rock formations inside in a way that changes throughout the day.
