Ohama Coast

Ohama Coast is a seaside park on Awaji Island that stretches along the coast with several sports and recreational facilities. The grounds include a baseball field, sumo arena, gymnasium, and swimming pool set within open parkland.

The park was established as a public space in 1879 and gradually developed into a center for community activities and recreation. Over time, various sports facilities were added to serve local residents and visitors.

The Sakai OoiUo Night Market takes place annually on July 31, featuring traditional fish auctions that preserve customs from the Kamakura period.

The park is easily reached by train with parking available on site and an information office at the entrance. The different sporting facilities are spread across the grounds, so plan time to explore each area.

Within the park grounds is a designated area known as Monkey Island that offers a distinct natural experience. Seasonal flower displays throughout the park create changing scenes that return visitors find something different each time they visit.
