Oboshi Park, Cherry blossom park in Minobu, Japan.
Oboshi Park sits on rolling hills west of the Fujikawa River in Minobu and holds around 2,000 cherry trees that bloom in pink tones each spring. The park features mainly Somei-Yoshino and weeping cherry varieties that together create a colorful display when in full bloom.
The park earned its position among Japan's top 100 cherry blossom sites through careful cultivation of these trees over many decades.
During spring, people gather here for traditional hanami celebrations where friends and families share meals while enjoying the blooms together.
The park is open 24 hours daily with free entry, with stone staircases and paths connecting different areas and offering various views of the trees. Visit between late March and early April for the best blooms and clearest weather.
At the top of a stone staircase, two cherry trees frame Mount Fuji across the valley like a natural window. On clear days, this sightline creates a surprising connection between this local spot and one of Japan's most famous peaks.
