Gifu Family Park, Recreational park in Gifu, Japan.
Gifu Family Park is a large recreational area in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, with baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds with climbing equipment, and rides. The different zones are spread across the grounds, offering options for both active sports and lighter play.
The park opened in March 1982 as a municipal project to give families in Gifu Prefecture a dedicated recreational space. It was part of a broader push to build public leisure areas across Japan during that period.
On designated free days, children through middle school can use all the rides and attractions at no cost, drawing families from across the prefecture. These days give the park a different feel, with groups of all ages filling the paths and play areas together.
Entry to the park is free, and the playgrounds and sports areas can be used without charge. Rides and special attractions have small individual fees, so it is worth bringing some cash if you plan to use them.
A handmade creature called Adra 2 floats in the boat pond, replacing the original Adra that once served as the park's mascot. This odd figure goes unnoticed by many visitors but gives the place a personal touch that sets it apart from other public parks.
