Sumio Kawakami Museum of Art

The Sumio Kawakami Museum of Art displays a collection of prints, sketches, and preparatory works illustrating the artist's mastery of woodblock printing techniques.

The museum opened in 1992 inside a Meiji Western-style building along the Kurokawa River, establishing a permanent home for Kawakami's artistic legacy.

The institution presents exhibitions of Kawakami's works, including the annual display of 'Breeze of Early Summer' every May to highlight seasonal artistry.

The museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with admission fees of 300 yen for adults and reduced prices for students.

The collection includes numerous pieces on paper that demonstrate Kawakami's distinct approach to combining traditional Japanese themes with modern artistic methods.
