Toda commemoration graveyard park, Memorial park in Ishikari, Japan
Toda commemoration graveyard park is a memorial ground in Ishikari covering 165 hectares with approximately 8,000 cherry trees arranged along walking paths through landscaped gardens and monuments. The grounds include several buildings, a Rainbow Square with exhibitions, a Sakura Castle Hall, and a peace hall.
The park was established in 1974 as a memorial ground with an ossuary named after Josei Toda, the second president of Soka Gakkai. Its creation connected the site to the history of this religious movement and its importance in Japan.
The site houses displays about cherry blossoms and a World Peace Memorial Hall where religious ceremonies and gatherings take place today. These spaces show how the grounds serve as a place for reflection and remembrance.
The grounds are open daily from 9 am to 5 pm with free entry and 500 parking spaces available. An internal bus service connects different areas and coordinates with public transportation.
The grounds feature the Atsuta-tei Restaurant with 120 seats and panoramic views of the Sea of Japan, plus separate rooms for memorial gatherings. This dining spot lets visitors enjoy meals while taking in the scenery during their visit.
