Kurita Museum

Kurita Museum is a ceramics museum in Tochigi Prefecture showcasing Japanese pottery and porcelain across multiple buildings. The collections spread across a large grounds with landscaped gardens that invite exploration.

The museum was founded in 1968 by Hideo Kurita and grew into a leading institution for preserving Japanese ceramic art. Its importance increased as it gained national recognition for its role in documenting and protecting these craft traditions.

The museum displays Imari and Nabeshima ceramics, two distinct styles of Japanese pottery that developed during the Edo period. Visitors can observe how these pieces were originally used and what craftsmanship techniques defined their creation.
