Kiryu City Hall, Municipal government building in Kiryu, Japan.
Kiryu City Hall is a municipal building with four stories and one basement level, supplemented by a seven-story annex. The complex sits on land that once held a textile factory, blending modern administrative functions with the city's industrial past.
The first town hall opened in 1901, well before Kiryu was granted city status in 1921. The current main building followed in 1965 as a modern replacement to serve the expanding city's growing needs.
The building serves as a hub for local community events and maintains strong ties to the city's sporting traditions. During the New Year's All-Japan Corporate Team Half Marathon, it functions as a key gathering point for athletes and spectators.
The building is located in the Orihime-cho area and is open Monday through Friday during business hours for administrative services. Visitors should note that weekends and holidays typically mean the facility is closed.
The facility manages the Ball Town Kiryu Project, an initiative supporting local handweaving arts and textile traditions. Through specialized departments and community programs, it actively works to preserve the region's textile heritage.
