Satsukiyama Zoo

Satsukiyama Zoo extends across 3000 square meters at the base of Mount Satsuki, featuring enclosures with alpacas, sheep, emus, and Australian animals.

The facility opened its doors in April 1957 and has since become the second smallest zoo among Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums members.

The zoo established a female music group called Keeper Girls in August 2015, connecting entertainment with animal education and conservation efforts.

Visitors can reach the zoo through a 15-minute walk from Hankyu Ikeda Station, with operating hours from 9:15 AM to 4:45 PM and no entrance fees.

In 1992, Satsukiyama Zoo achieved the first successful wombat breeding outside of Australia, marking a significant advancement in international animal reproduction.
