呉服橋, Historic bridge in Chuo district, Tokyo, Japan.
Gofukubashi Bridge stands at a major intersection where National Routes 1 and 20 meet the Sotobori Loop Line in central Tokyo.
During the Edo period, a wooden bridge spanned the moat near Gofukubashi Gate, which served as an entrance to Edo Castle.
The bridge name originates from the silk merchants who established their businesses in the surrounding area during the feudal period.
The intersection remains a central transport hub in Tokyo, connecting multiple major roads and providing access to numerous commercial establishments.
After World War II, the original bridge structure was removed when the moat was filled with debris, transforming the area into a modern road junction.
