Baishō-in, Buddhist temple in Nakano, Japan
Baisho-in Temple houses the golden statue of Yakushi Nyorai and Nyoirin Kannon, both divinities combined into a single sacred figure.
Founded in 1586 by monk Gyoshun, who discovered a sacred Buddha statue radiating light from an ancient plum tree near the current temple grounds.
The temple performs Goma fire rituals on the 8th, 18th, and 28th of each month, continuing centuries-old Buddhist traditions in Tokyo.
Located at 5-3-5 Arai, the temple welcomes visitors daily and provides sacred water from the White Dragon Spring for public use.
The main Buddha statue remains hidden from view except during special exhibitions held every 12 years during the Year of the Tiger.
