禅昌寺, Buddhist temple in Yamaguchi City, Japan
The temple complex includes a five-story pagoda, bell tower, storehouses, and a museum displaying exhibits about Japanese pagoda architecture and construction methods.
The temple construction started in 1442, with its pagoda becoming a national treasure and recognized as one of the three most significant pagodas in Japan.
Members of the Mori family, who governed the region during the Edo Period from 1603 to 1867, selected this temple as their final resting place.
Located 2.5 kilometers north of Yamaguchi Station, visitors can access the temple grounds without paying admission fees, except for the pagoda museum.
The Uguisubari Stone Pavement within the temple grounds creates sounds similar to Japanese Bush Warbler calls when people walk across its surface.
