秀岳館高等学校, Public high school in Yatsushiro, Japan.
Shūgakukan is a public high school in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto Prefecture, spread across a campus with several buildings. The facilities include science rooms, playing fields, and a gymnasium for different school activities.
The school began operations on April 1, 1923, and grew into a secondary education institution in Kumamoto Prefecture over the following decades. Several expansions and reorganizations shaped its development throughout the 20th century.
The institution takes its name from the mountains visible from many of its classrooms, connecting daily school life to the surrounding landscape. Athletic competitions and artistic performances during festival days draw families from across the region.
The campus sits in a residential neighborhood of Yatsushiro and can be reached on foot or by bicycle from surrounding streets. The grounds are generally quiet during the day, while morning and afternoon hours see more activity around the school area.
The baseball team from here has competed at Koshien, one of the most well-known tournaments for high schools across Japan. This participation brought recognition to the institution beyond the prefecture.
