Mihama Town Resort American Village

Mihama Town Resort American Village is a resort and shopping complex in Chatan, a coastal town in Okinawa, that spreads across several themed districts by the ocean. The complex includes restaurants, entertainment venues, and retail stores arranged around plazas, walkways, and a beach section.

The resort opened in 1998 on a site that had previously served as a military airfield, after the land was returned to local administration. The transformation of the site into a commercial and leisure development helped revitalize the coastal area of Chatan.

The complex blends Japanese shopping and leisure habits with an architectural style that recalls the west coast of the United States. Residents and tourists come here to stroll through themed districts along the waterfront and visit shops or restaurants with colorful facades.

Visitors reach the complex by local bus services or private vehicles, with parking spaces distributed throughout the site. Weekends and public holidays see more crowds, so weekday visits offer a quieter experience when exploring the different zones.

A ferris wheel in one of the districts offers views over the coastline and surrounding sea. The ride takes about 15 minutes and provides a good overview of the entire complex from above.
