Koshigaya Laketown, Commercial new town in Saitama, Japan.
Koshigaya Laketown is a shopping development in Saitama Prefecture, comprising three interconnected buildings spread over more than 22 hectares. The complex houses more than seven hundred shops, restaurants, and leisure options arranged around an artificial lake.
The development opened in November 2008 to mark the 50th anniversary of Koshigaya city. The project transformed former agricultural land into a modern retail and leisure area.
The complex incorporates Japanese design principles with retail spaces divided into themed sections named Mori, Kaze, and Outlet, each representing different shopping experiences.
The complex opens daily around nine in the morning and closes around ten in the evening. Koshigaya Lake Town Station on the JR Musashino Line provides direct access to the shopping areas.
Solar panels and environmental technologies make this center Japan's first ecologically oriented shopping complex. Green spaces and water features throughout the grounds contribute to energy efficiency.
