Nagareyama Bridge

Nagareyama Bridge is a road bridge spanning approximately 410 meters across the Edo River, connecting the municipality of Nagareyama in Chiba Prefecture with Misato in Saitama Prefecture. The structure carries vehicular traffic and features separate pathways for bicycles and pedestrians.

The bridge was built to establish the first direct road connection between the rapidly growing municipalities of Nagareyama and Misato. It played an important role in the infrastructure development of both regions during the postwar period.

The bridge connects two communities with distinct local identities, serving as a shared passage where residents from different prefectures encounter each other daily. It functions as a neutral meeting ground where the rhythms and habits of both areas naturally intersect.

The crossing experiences heavy traffic during morning and evening rush hours as many commuters travel between the prefectures. It is best to avoid these peak times if you prefer a less congested passage.

The bridge received a significant upgrade in 2023 with new toll collection systems and dedicated bicycle pathways along the Edo River embankment. This improvement has made it one of the more modern crossings between the two prefectures.
