Nakagawa stable, Sumo training facility in Kawasaki, Japan
Nakagawa stable was a sumo training facility in Kawasaki that combined practice areas with living quarters under one roof. The building provided space for several athletes who trained together and followed the strict routines of traditional sumo life.
The training house opened in January 2017 from an earlier facility and carried forward its operations. Closure came in July 2020 after internal difficulties, and the wrestlers moved to other locations across the country.
The stable maintained traditional sumo practices, including morning training sessions, hierarchical structures, and strict disciplinary protocols for developing professional wrestlers.
The facility stood three minutes on foot from Sangyōdōro Station on the Keikyū Daishi Line. Up to closure, nine active athletes lived in the building.
After management troubles, the nine wrestlers scattered to seven different training houses across Japan. The distribution happened quickly and marked the abrupt end of the facility's brief existence.
