Mikamine Park

Mikamine Park is a public park located south of central Sendai with expansive grounds and numerous cherry trees throughout its landscape. The space includes wide open lawns and tree-lined paths designed for walking and resting.

The park began as a gathering space for the community in Miyagi Prefecture, developing over time through regular gatherings and celebrations. It became a central place for residents to meet and share important moments together.

The park is roughly 30 minutes on foot from Nagamachi Minami Station on the Nanboku Subway Line. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and visitors should bring sun protection during warmer months or seek shaded areas under the trees.

Hundreds of cherry trees bloom simultaneously from mid to late April, creating a dense canopy of pink flowers that transforms the entire park. This synchronized flowering happens over just a few weeks, making the timing of a visit quite special for those who witness it.
