Sendai City Tomizawa Site Museum

The Sendai City Tomizawa Site Museum displays carefully preserved archaeological artifacts from the Paleolithic period within an underground exhibition space.

The museum opened in 1996 to protect and showcase a significant archaeological site containing human settlements and forest remains from 20,000 years ago.

The facility includes educational programs, interactive exhibits, and regular archaeological demonstrations that teach visitors about prehistoric Japanese civilization.

The museum opens daily from 9:00 to 16:45, with adult admission at 460 yen, and sits five minutes from Nagamachi-Minami subway station.

The underground exhibition space maintains the exact soil conditions and positioning where archaeologists discovered the original Paleolithic forest and human artifacts.
