加茂大橋, Steel bridge in Kamo, Japan.
Kamo Bridge is a steel structure spanning approximately 500 meters across the Shinano River with two vehicle lanes and a pedestrian walkway on its upstream side. The crossing connects the Kamonotsuda and Kamoshinden districts while helping distribute traffic across multiple crossing points.
The project began in 2000 and opened officially in December 2010 after approximately 10 years of construction. The bridge was built to address growing transportation needs between the two banks of the river.
The bridge features 41 golden ornamental finials along its railings that reflect local design traditions of the area. These decorative elements give the structure a distinctive character that goes beyond its practical purpose as a crossing.
The bridge is easily accessible with clear pathways for both vehicles and pedestrians, with a dedicated area for foot traffic on the upstream side. Visibility is typically good during daylight, giving a clear view of the river landscape.
The bridge uses weathering steel with a specialized nickel-based coating that eliminates the need for paint. This material choice provides lasting corrosion resistance while reducing the need for ongoing maintenance.
