北海道子どもの国

Hokkaido Children's Land is a recreation park featuring scale model replicas of famous structures from around the world, including a smaller version of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and sections of the Great Wall of China. The grounds spread across a large area with play zones, walking paths, and attractions designed for different age groups.

The park opened in 1974 as an urban recreation area for Hokkaido, repurposing a former site along the Ishikari River. This transformation of unused land into a family space reflects how Japan began developing public areas during that period.

The Mystery Forest section blends play with learning about monuments from around the world, letting children discover new places while exploring. Visitors notice how this area encourages kids to be curious about different cultures and environments.

The park is open from late April through early November, making it a warm weather destination. Visitors should plan to walk across the large grounds with different zones and wear comfortable shoes.

Between mid-July and mid-August, visitors can watch fireflies in the Yahoo Forest area as darkness falls over the park. This seasonal natural display offers an entirely different experience compared to daytime visits.
