Sky Mile Tower, Proposed skyscraper in Tokyo Bay, Japan.
Sky Mile Tower is a proposed building in Tokyo that would stand around 1700 meters tall with over 400 floors, housing tens of thousands of people. The hexagonal form extends across multiple levels and offers space for apartments, offices, and shared areas within a single structure.
The project was introduced as part of the Next Tokyo 2045 initiative, which explores urban responses to climate change and rising sea levels. The vision grew from research into long-term development of Tokyo Bay.
The tower takes its name from its planned height of roughly one mile and aims to shape the skyline with a hexagonal silhouette. Residents would live in vertical neighborhoods connected by shared floors with shops and meeting places.
The outer shell was designed to collect rainwater and store it at different heights to ease water supply. Visitor information is not currently available as the project remains in the planning stage.
Floating platforms around the tower are meant to break waves while providing space for urban agriculture. Algae grown on the facade could be used to produce clean fuel.
