Jissō-ji, Buddhist temple in Nishio, Japan
The main building of Jissō-ji Temple features a wooden single-story structure with a tile roof, following traditional architectural elements from 1603.
Founded in 1145 by retired Emperor Toba Hohoh as a Tendai Shu temple, Jissō-ji experienced destruction in 1568 before its reconstruction during the Keicho period.
The temple holds ceremonies such as the Buddha-san flower festival each April, where visitors can view statues of Shaka Sanzon and Shiten'no.
The temple complex contains multiple buildings including the Hondo, Shichimen-do, and Soshi-do, where visitors can observe Buddhist architecture and religious artifacts.
The temple houses the Issai-kyo, a complete collection of Buddhist scriptures from Tang Dynasty China that survived numerous historical conflicts.
