Izu Village, 静岡県伊豆の国市にあるリゾート施設
Izu Village is a resort in Izunokuni, a small town in the northern Izu Peninsula known for hot springs and historic sites. The location combines quiet surroundings with access to mountains, rivers, and traditional buildings all within short distances.
Izunokuni was historically a place where samurai lived and visited, preserving this feudal past in quiet temples and historic structures today. The Nirayama Reverberatory Furnaces, built over 150 years ago, show Japan's transition to modernization and are now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The name Izunokuni reflects its heritage as part of the historical Izu Province. Today the town is known for its geisha schools, one of only two remaining in Japan, where visitors can watch traditional performances with dance and music in person.
The location is easy to reach by train, about 20 minutes from Mishima Station, making it suitable for a day trip or longer stay. Bikes, including electric options, can be rented to explore the small town and nearby sights at your own pace.
Near the historic furnace site, visitors can dress in traditional clothes and pick and process green tea leaves, offering rare direct access to a local craft tradition. This experience connects history with hands-on participation in the region's daily work traditions.
