丹波竜の里公園, Dinosaur-themed park in Tamba, Japan.
Tamba Dinosaur Park is a public playground centered around a 15-meter-long monument depicting the Tambaryuu dinosaur discovered nearby. The site features various play structures shaped like prehistoric creatures arranged throughout the grounds for children to climb and explore.
The site was established to commemorate the 2006 discovery of a previously unknown dinosaur species in the nearby Sasayama geological layers. This find highlighted the region's significance as a location where ancient reptiles lived roughly 110 million years ago.
The park draws families who enjoy playing around the dinosaur sculpture and climbing on the creature-shaped equipment scattered throughout the grounds. Children and parents naturally gather here to explore the outdoor installation while learning about the local connection to ancient reptiles.
Entry to the grounds is free and parking is available on-site for about 30 vehicles making access straightforward. The nearby Genki Mura Kamikuge visitor facility opens only on weekends, so weekend visits offer more activities and information.
Visitors can participate in fossil excavation activities during weekends and holidays, digging into the exposed geological layers. This hands-on experience connects people directly with paleontological work and deepens understanding of how the discoveries were made.
