Built between 1905 and 1908 for merchant Tit Golovizin, this property rose during Almaty's boom years as a prosperous trading hub. Its later use as a state residence reflected the building's importance in the city's development.

The building displays a blend of styles favored by early 1900s merchants: curved lines, decorative details, and classical column forms. Visitors notice the ornate embellishments adorning the corner and facades, reflecting the tastes of Almaty's prosperous citizens of that era.
