Tarandė

Tarandė is a suburban district on the northwestern edge of Vilnius, positioned south of Avižieniai and near the A2 highway. The area consists mainly of residential homes and small facilities arranged along this transport route.

The area first appeared in records at the end of the 19th century as part of Riešė district and belonged to the Bukiškis estate of the Radvilavičiai family. This connection shaped the region's early development.

The area keeps its village character beyond city limits, with local homesteads that show traditional Lithuanian suburban living. The houses and farms define how daily life appears in this place.

The district has basic services including a family clinic, veterinary clinic, store, and fish smoking facility for local needs. Bus route 52 connects this area to the rest of the city and makes it easy to reach.

A stream called Tarandė flows through the area, creating a natural water feature, while Gilužio Lake lies to the east. This water system gives the place its natural structure and local character.
