Kelmė Manor

Kelme Manor is a baroque-style manor house in the town of Kelme in Lithuania, situated on an expansive property with several historic buildings. The complex comprises nine preserved structures, three of which house different museum collections.

The estate originated in the 15th century under the rule of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, then passed to the Gruzewski family in 1591. This transition marked the beginning of new developments that shaped the property's appearance and significance.

The manor houses a regional museum featuring exhibitions on Native American culture, where visitors explore traditional ways of life through interactive activities. These collections reflect how far-reaching the cultural interests of the local community have become.

The property is walkable throughout, with the different buildings connected by paths that run through gardens and open areas. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and allow adequate time to explore all nine structures and the surrounding grounds.

The estate preserves a specialized library containing around 5000 rare volumes focused on Reformation history. This valuable collection is carefully maintained on the grounds and offers insights into an important chapter of European intellectual history.
