Gaižėnų tvenkinys is a man-made reservoir in the Kauno region covering around 4.5 hectares. The water is clear and clean, surrounded by forests and meadows, with winding shorelines and depths exceeding 12 meters in places.
The reservoir was built in 1977 to support irrigation for agriculture and improve moisture supply for crops in the region. Its design followed natural water flows and soil characteristics of the area.
You can fish here with permission, rent boats, or simply walk along the shore to observe wildlife. Keep in mind that motorized boats are only allowed during certain seasons and with speed restrictions in place.
Every year restocking events take place here where the reservoir is filled with new fish populations to make angling more rewarding. These initiatives show how the local community continuously maintains and improves the site.
