Spikeri district

Spikeri is a waterfront district of uniform red brick warehouses that line the Daugava River, forming a cohesive architectural complex from the 1800s. The buildings have been converted into galleries, studios, shops, and event spaces while preserving their original brick exteriors.

The site functioned as a commercial harbor from the 14th century, with ships loading and unloading merchandise along the riverbank. During the 1800s, purpose-built warehouses replaced the informal docks to handle the city's expanding trade.
